Midnight Oil - Capricorinia [Oor #24 30/11/2002]

Midnight Oil can tour Australia until the end of days. They won't show
themselves that easily in the rest of the world, because if they ever
seriously aspired to world fame, they disregarded that in the second
half of the 90's because of the drawbacks of touring from Australia.

Thus, the last albums of the group are inspired by Australia, and don't
reference Europe or America. Capricornia (out in Australia for over a
year, out now in Europe) has little new or different to tell - except
fot the bonustrack, Pub With No Beer, a bar-song, indeed. The CD sounds
familiar and is of high quality, there's no bad track on it. Fans will
enjoy Too Much Sunshine, Mosquito March, Been Away Too Long, and - a
bonustrack again - Kiss That Girl. Each and everyone played to the max,
heavy guitarpopsongs which generations that came after Midnight Oil can
only dream of writing. The European edition has an extra CD-ROM track
with interviews.

I'd rather listen to Newton than to Mundie. He may have been dead for
almost three hundred years, but despite that he stinks up the room less.
