A recent post made me think about how many times I've seen the Oils. =
For an American, I'll bet I'm right up there in the first rank. Here's =
my archive of shows:
3/30/84 The Palace, Hollywood
3/31/84 The Palace, Hollywood
8/7/85 County Bowl, Santa Barbara (opening for UB40)
8/9/85 Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (opening for UB40) (in Orange County, =
1 hour south of L.A.)
8/14/85 Palladium, Hollywood (headlining)
4/16/88 Palladium, Hollywood
7/2/88 Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre
11/5/88 County Bowl, Santa Barbara
11/6/88 Universal Amphitheatre, L.A.
6/19/90 Universal Amphitheatre, L.A.
6/20/90 Universal Amphitheatre, L.A.
6/22/90 Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre
10/4/93 County Bowl, Santa Barbara
10/6/93 Universal Amphitheatre, L.A.
7/8/94 The Catalyst, Santa Cruz (2 hours south of San Francisco)
7/9/94 The Edge, Palo Alto (location of Stanford University, about 45 =
mins. south of SF)
10/7/96 House of Blues, Hollywood
That's 17 shows; I was thinking it was more like 20 or so. At age 42, =
it's possible I'm forgetting one or two. :) Unfortunately, I was =
unable to catch their show at the HOB last October, but I'll be there on =
March 21, dragged by my wife, who is a huge Oils fan, too. She hasn't =
seen them since the July 94 club shows in the Bay Area. I went to the =
Oct. 96 show alone, because she was expecting our second son to be born =
any minute (he arrived on Oct. 9, luckily for me). After more than five =
years without an Oil show, I'm really looking forward to the upcoming =
show. And for those who attend a show on this tour and come away with =
an audio souvenir, please drop me a line. Thanks.

The thought manifests as the word;
the word manifests as the deed;
the deed develops into the habit;
and habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought and its ways with care,=20
and let it spring from love
born out of concern for all things.
