Ahoy Fellow Workers of the World,
I know I've asked before...
but are there any teachers of any level out
there who have used or would be interested in using
Oils material as curriculum in Science
or Social Studies? If so, or if you know anyone
who does, please contact me and
we'll talk. I'm convinced there's no better way to
teach kids about environmental stewardship,
social justice and political awareness than
thru music, especially finely-crafted,
time-tested stuff like the Oils.
If you've had any school-related Oils
experiences and have the time, please let
me know about it. I'm doing grad work on this,
and I also use their stuff in class
with my own students to good effect.
Sometimes my kids have trouble getting past the
big bald lurching and what they call the '80's vibe'
but once they do, they're stitched in and they learn. The
video for 'Dreamworld' sure got their attention in
a new way after the NYC massacre.
Peace,
/bruce 'sweating to the oldies' up north
