[Bob Hampton]

I am probably miles behind everyone else here on this, but: if any of you haven't read any of Winton's stuff and if you like reading fiction, give him a try. I had never heard of him before reading his liner notes to "20,000 Watt R.S.L.". The notes were so good, in my opinion, that I checked him out on the Net, then got lucky & found a remainder-table copy of his latest novel, "Dirt Music". "Wow" is about the best I can do at briefly describing my reaction. I've read 4 more of his novels since, and I just get more impressed. I don't know about the availability of his work in the common bookstore chains in the US (where I am), but I've had no trouble finding plenty online at half.com and amazon (used), at very reasonable prices. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it.
