[Powderworks] In the news today- WHAT??

Youse guyz, Jeez!

CI = Continuous Improvement. Some of you may know it as DFSS, or Design for Six Sigma. Both are acronyms for statistical methodologies that strive to result in the best answer with the tightest standard deviation (for variable inputs and responses). This has been adopted/applied in numerous areas of business, and is used to address both reliability and robustness issues. As Mike Bawolski points out, some companies use it as an excuse to reduce or quit providing services. The mathematics are compelling, but the applications are not always clear. It can be reasonably applied to many engineering or manufacturing problems. It's the reason why that Chevy you owned in the 80's only lasted 75,000 miles, but a similar Chevy purchased today can now be reliably owned and operated for 125,000 miles.

Beth was probably just having one of those stream-of-consciousness events that happens to everyone every now and then. She may have more of these events than others . . . you have to remember, she's a chemist, so there's no telling what experiments she brings home from work!

Jeff, the engineer.

Yeah, it really sounds like a typical April 1 "joke"!

Just like Aliester, I understand very little - or I should say NOTHING -
of this article either... What is "CI" for example?
