About a year ago I bought a cheap APEX model 1100W DVD player (about $50 =
US) and converted it to region free. In THEORY it should also play PAL =
discs on my NTSC TV, but I have not tried that yet.=20

It that Oils DVD comes along - I will be ready for it!

Arrggghh! Might have to look into getting my player converted! This =
would be strange though. If they are not going to release elsewhere why =
encode to region 4 only. It only makes sense to do this when you are =
wanting to release the same thing to different markets at different =
costs. Surely that was the reason for creating the region coding in the =
first place. If Sony keep it region 4 it means they will miss out on a =
LOT of sales! Mark Seymour's live at the Basement DVD and the last =
Midnight Oil DVD were both multi-region...and I'm sure they would have =
sold a lot more copies because of it!

It looks like the Oils are going to be part of this series (Whammo, =
Chaos and
Sanity all have it listed), but it appears to be an Australia only =
release, which
means PAL video format and possibly region 4 only encoding.
