I use EAC for all my disc copying.
While you can get away with not using it, and you'll get perfect copies
most of the time, sometimes you'll introduce flaws. If the disc is only
for you, then that doesn't matter if you don't care. But if you're burning
for someone else, then they are receving an imperfect copy. If they then
make a copy for someone else, the best they can do is make a perfect copy
of an imperfect copy. As time goes on, the imperfections can only increase.
It's certainly not going to be as dramatic or quick as the generational
loss we used to get with tape trading, but it's just as inevitable if you
don't take the time to ensure quality.
