Damien,

Did it occur to you that the term "most influential" is merely a cover for 
NOT saying "most popular" or "best of all time"?  Out with cliches ... in 
with euphamisms!

As an information scout by nature and profession I can only say that if 
Emineminem really wants "most influential" they are asking the wrong 
population.  Instead of taking a listener's poll they should be asking 
young artists (such as your highly anointed self) who influenced them, then 
ask those influential artists and so on and on until the trails begin to 
converge.

Oh horrors!  They might get a bunch of esoteric and niche market and 
regional and "oldies" and other mass-market unplayable "artist's artists" 
for their results!  Much easier to hold an on-line popularity contest among 
people not yet born when Sid and Nancy died.  Just limit the spread to 
commercial stuff from the last ten years and call that the final word on 
influence.
