Tom - interesting points because I'm having just the opposite reaction.  I 
find it very accessible, especially compared to Redneck Wonderland, which to 
be honest 
with you I just don't like (I'm probably going to get fried for this).   
There's a lot of
catchy choruses and jangly guitars which kind of give it a little more 
lighter, 
uplifting sound, while not giving up anything lyrically.  I think it's one of 
the Oils
best ever.
