Beth, two points:
1. If someone does a wrong, it requires justice. Not revenge, but
justice. This is necessary as a deterrent, and is the morally correct
thing to do.
2. If I found out that some jerk down the block had harmed his own
family and was planning to harm my family, you can bet I'm gonna take
him out before he has a chance to touch my family. The same thing
applies on a bigger scale, as horrible as it can be.
