Only correction I had to make is What Goes On moves from 2nd to first
encore - as geeky as it sounds, I had a scrap of paper to keep notes
on for the show.
Beds to Blue sky were played with Rob up front and there was a little
blues jam thing at the start of Truganini which I did not get a name
for
A great show, I was front row, right in front of Bones and a show
like that possesses a furious intensity. PG was on form all throwgh
the show, his look as someone through an NY cap on stage was
priceless and his continued refernces to forming a democracy in the
crowd to get them to play Warakurna then of course, since democracy
doesnt work, not playing it. The band are incredibly tight and the
new songs stand up very well - can't wait for the next album. (I
caught U2 a couple of weeks back at Notre Dame and the Oils just blew
them away in terms of sheer energy and stage presence). It was great
to see a pile of tracks from Blue Sky in the setlist especially a
scorching King of the Mountain and 1st encore closer Hercules and
closing with Best of Both Worlds was classic. Only complaint was they
didn't play The Real thing or anything off Place and the sound on
What Goes On was a bit muddy, it's my least favourite track on the
setlist and even on disc, it doesnt stand out. but it was a great
show and is up there for my nomination for show of the year.
Opener Will Hoge played a storming set reminiscent of early
Attractions era Costello and a voice and stage mannersisms similar to
Jeff Tweedy of Wilco or a stripped down Springsteen. Very cool and it
was nice to see them hang out later and sign the album and such.

I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting
into the arena of the unwell. Making an enemy of our own future.
What we need is harmony.
Fresh air. Stuff like that.
