It appears that the version of Land in the new box set IS a previously-unreleased version.  The full-length original can be heard here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwFgMmqkEPA), and it is pretty much the same as the recent release, but the new version seems to lack vocal contributions from either members of Crash Vegas or Hothouse Flowers. (I think Daniel Lanois sings the first verse, and Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip definitely sings the third verse.)  The newly-released version has Garrett on the second verse as well as the fourth, rather than just on the fourth, and there are no female backing vocals (which were really only noticeable on the outro of the original single).

So, that's pretty interesting!  Aggravating for completists, but a cool "new" version of the song.  I much prefer Garret's take on the 2nd verse anyway...  I wonder if a tangle with regard to rights to the recording resulted in this version being intentionally chosen for Chiko Locallo, or if it was hauled out of the archives and released by mistake.
