Midnight Oil

both night were audio recorded in full. so it should be possible (assuming there is decent quality footage) to use these audio tracks. though I think the band's standards are higher than what we fans would be happy to live with. since all of this is hardly a priority for them, I suspect we are just flogging a dead horse :)

How could people get so unkind?

HI All,

I was one of 5-6 camera ops that night in Canberra.
I haven't seen a frame of what I shot as it was all taken and uploaded at the end of the show. (and stock never returned...bugger)
There was one camera angle released with a few tracks on it in a horribly interlaced format and ordinary top mic audio.
(not sure how that got out or who put it on youtube as it doesn't do the show justice)
I have the abc recordings of about 9-10 tracks that sound ace (read about it-  the highlight for mine)
unfortunately, other than that I can't help sorry.....

would love to have seen the footage cut up and edited properly as promised it would be...(and should be)

great memories from that night as I was fortunate to have a beer with Bones and Martin after the show and talk (mainly listen) to them chewing the fat...

did someone mention box set?

cheers
Matt

That sounds more like the story from Manly in 2005, which was filmed but the audio failed.

In fact the Canberra shows were certainly recorded, as a selection including songs from both nights was broadcast on ABC Radio National a couple of years ago.  Presumably they have the entire show from each night in the vault.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that both shows were pro recorded but the audio failed hence no release.  (different to saying we lost it).

Other than that I found 13 songs on You Tube, varying quality filmed from varying positions in the theatre.

Midnight Oil Live - Canberra 13th March, 2009
Not the complete show. Just a merge and edit of what was already on you tube. Taped by various people in various spots of the Theatre with varying quality. N...

I could make a basic DVD and seed it if the demand is there but that wouldn’t be for a few weeks.
