Hi all

Just an anecdotal story but today, my soon to be 13 year old was digging around an old box, stumbled across an old ticket stub dated 2 weeks before her birth in June 2002 and she scolded me (only half jokingly I fear) for being selfish at leaving her Mum alone at home as she could have arrived early. The gig was actually a festival of Aussie music in London so doesn't mention that the Oils were headlining on the stub. When I told her who I went to see, she immediately understood. She's had that understanding that Oils come first, everything else second since an early age. 
Sadly, unbeknownst to me at the time that was to be the last Oils gig in Europe. 
As a footnote, my wife understood that I had to go to see the Oils despite her 'condition' but she hasn't forgiven me for leaving her alone with, by then, 2 small kids under the age of 3 to see the Oils again in 2005. This time in Sydney at Waveaid. 
My conversation about going to see them again at Sound Relief was rather curt and the divorce word was used very early on.
