Whilst trawling through the Rage retro month looking for MO stuff I came across the following documentary which has NMOC.

 

HUSH were an Australian band in the late 1970’s.  This doco is about how poorly they treated their Road Crew.  The roadies were in town way before the band setting up and stayed way late packing the truck.  Yes this was normal for any road crew but the pay and conditions were bad.  They worked for $1 an hour.  Even in 1977 that was slave labour.  The band ate a chinese banquet in a restaurant with grog whilst the roadies went to the fish and chips shop and got some hamburgers and chips and paid with a $2 bill. (they have been out of circulation for almost 30 years.)  The fatigue they were suffering driving the truck was bad.  A wonder they didn’t prang it.  The band had groupies and grog in the hotel room after the show. (probably normal back then).  When they woke up to a flash cooked breakfast the bottle of scotch was still on the table for an early kick starter.

 

But here’s the punch line.  One of the band dudes (don’t know his name.), but he is the black haired dude who looks like Gene Simmons.    He said, “The road crew has more of an ego than the band!!!”   What the ???

 

Anyway for you long time Aussie OILS fans who may remember HUSH it is worth a look if you have a spare half hour.  And for you workers from o/s is it good to see what the cars, fashion, hair do’s, and the aussie rock scene looked like in 1977.

 

I know the OILS did a lot of their own Road work in the real early days but when they did get a road crew they wouldn’t have treated them this bad.
