Simon, did you know that as a mailing list group, we had tribute CDs of Powderworkers covering Oils tunes (and maybe a but of Ghostwriters too). I think we had 2 or 3 of them that were made. I was the ring leader I suppose, some made artworks, and I collected the songs that were sent to me, in various formats (mostly sent in on cassette) and then I mailed CDs to those that wanted a copy.

I don't think any of these are online but I could send you them if you'd like.

Subject: [powderworks] Oils Cover Comp

Hi All,

Some may be aware ABC Newcastle is running an OILS cover comp to promote the opening of MOMO expo in Newcastle next year.  The following is a good blog on the progress of the comp.

http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2014/10/29/4144911.htm?site=newcastle&section=competitions

There are 4 finalists.

1.       Im the Cure.  ( yes a surprise to me but it sounds OK.)

2.       BSM   (cant find it any where)

3.       Bedz        (female solo acoustic version - good effort)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IccCVM79Vg&feature=youtu.be

4.       Bedz (different version, male solo version with a few instruments, he got a few words wrong but he is talented.)

There were a few short listed and also highly commended.  I wouldnt mind seeing the flute players version of weeding cake island.

I am not really into OILS covers but this comp has been great for local musos to have a crack.

Have a look if you are interested and you be the judge

Regards,

SK
