Greetings,

My love for Midnight Oil has inspired me to study Australia. I have been reading and looking at many fine books about the land of Aus!

The 4th edition (2010) of "National Geographic Traveler: Australia" includes the following blurb on page 59:

"Australia has contributed...superstar rock groups such as INXS, AC/DC, Silverchair, Men at Work, the Little River Band, the Bee Gees, Black Sorrows, and Midnight Oil. Not everyone looked overseas for success, however. Cold Chisel, an iconic band of the 1970s and early '80s, is scarcely known outside of Australia but to this day remains arguably the nations greatest and most influential rock group."

What? Tell me Aus members, can this be true?

I found 3 Cold Chisel torrents on Dime. What I have listened to thus far is good, but nowhere near the caliber of the Oils.

After 14 years of silence, Cold Chisel released a new album "No Plans." In April, 2012. It debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album chart and is now officially Gold. (This according to info at www.coldchisel.com)

Am I missing something here? Does Cold Chisel rate such rave mention while "and Midnight Oil" is summarily dismissed?

There is a Cold Chisel group on Yahoo that boasts 186 members, but no one has posted to it since 2007!

My membership in this group is "pending," but I am doubtful that there is anybody out there to approve it.

So please, Aus people, is NatGeo correct or is this just a bunch of erroneous travelog poop?

Cheers,
Dutch
