Midnight Oil

I can't believe it's been 10 years, either. Back then, I remember for years I'd liked what I'd heard of the Oils for a long time, but never invested in them until about 2000, and got seriously hooked. So it was a thrill to experience "Capricornia" when it was new, and to see the Oils while I could- glad I caught them when I had the chance (though what I wouldn't give to see "The Break") although sadly only once. Yet somehow in the back of my mind I sensed they were on borrowed time then, and although it was sad news, it made sense to me that they decided to move on finally by the end of that year. Somehow I feel they will play again at one point, but I don't want to hold my breath. Who knows what their legacy will look like in ANOTHER 10 years.........

I think the door is very slightly open for a MO once of mini tour in large pubs in the East coast of Australia, post 2013 Federal Elections. PG will have more time on his hands if the ALP looses the elections. In the meantime there is also a chance that Hunters and Collectors will also do a gig or two. While the recent Sydney gig was good, the trick is the reasons for doing it and the right choice of venue will come into play. Both bands are still too big to play medium size venues and yet not quite as big as in their heyday to do outdoor stadiums  I think the answer to this is to do medium size venues 2 nights in a row. Let get a dicussion going. It will be interesting to say at the least.

Hard to believe it's been ten years! The Capricornia album and tour were so
good, too, I was so excited about the future of the band...
