Maybe I should have been clearer. When I meant commercially available, I was really referring to the studio albums. I see way too many box sets that are really re-packaged releases of studio albums, albeit usually with a couple of teasers to make people buy them.

For me, what made the Oils special was their live presence and unwavering commitment to the songs and their meaning, so a box set that encompasses what the band were all about will make my day.

Having said all that, I'll probably buy whatever comes out, especially as the new release date is close to my birthday :-).

Well, I think calling any of the non-album tracks "commercially available" at thispoint is a heck of a stretch, and having all these rarities in one spot would be what it would take for me to buy a box set of albums I already own. I find remastering to be a nice bonus, but less essential than most people seem to. After all, if the original masters turned me into a life long Oils fan, remasters aren't going tomake much difference to me!

Now, new live material, especially if it covers all eras of their careers in equal depth, would be fantastic...

While I'd enjoy all of these, I'd also like to see more official live material, especially video of said live material (after all, that's what they did/do best). I'm really only interested in stuff that is already commercially available if it's remastered.

I'd rather they take their time and makethe box set intosomething epic... Really, the most important thing is that they compile ALL the officially-released non-album tracks. If they can't do that, here's howI think they shouldprioritize them:

1st priority: Non-album MidnightOil originals. This would be the b-sides like Heaven And Earth, You May Not Be Released, etc.

2nd priority:Alternate versions of Midnight Oil album tracks. This wouldinclude the shorter "single"versions of several songs, the remixes, the live b-sides etc.

3rd priority: Non-album covers of other artists. There area fewof these as b-sides(live and studio) and on tribute albums.

What doyou other Powdies think? I know I'd rather have ALL of the first group above thanan incompleteset from eachcategory. I'dput the Non-album MidnightOil originals on one disk, the live b-sides on asecond disk, the single versions (and alternate versions like Cemetery In My Mind <True Believers Blind version>)plus covers on the third disk, and the Remixes on afourth disk.

Of couse, any unreleased songs would be in a new "ultimate priority" group, but I suspect we'd be lucky to get even one of those, so it could go into the compilation of non-album originals.

Anybody want to pass this on to Arlene? ;-)
