i've arrived at a permanent solution.  part of the problem has been that like BOBW these are in PAL format.  rather than continue to convert to NTSC i'm going to buy a universal player that will handle PAL. they are cheap enough now days that it is impractical to take the time and trouble to convert anymore.  

... the official release in DVD (if not blue ray) quality and sound remix will be superior to the "on the fly" mix and broadcast quality show that was on DIME.

  the Sound Relief set. afaik there were no other torrents made available for this.

  yesterday i recoded the files with DVD Shrink and the resulting burned dvd did not have any sound missing, however i think the sound quality may have suffered in the process.
