The disc is in PAL I'm afraid. Would the US Powderworker that was last in line to receive a copy of those I sent to the States please stand up and make a copy for Michael?! That would be fair. If he remains seated just get back to me, Michael ;).

As far as I know Laserdiscs while digitally stored are mostly analog coded so you wouldn't find 'files' on it if you could get a computer to access the disc which I doubt is even possible. The way my copy was transferred was by plugging a Laserdisc player to a computer video input. I don't know any details, e.g. if it was an optical interface, as I had someone to do the job for me but I don't have the contact anymore. All I can say is that there's no visible loss of quality compared to my VHS copy.

Cheers,

Stephan

Does anyone know how to access the file from the laserdisc? I have one but do not know how I would go about putting to DVD other than to record it in which I would rather not do as I'd lose too much quality.

    Hello, Stephan
I was hoping the remastering of the Oils back catalogue would lead
to BSM getting re-released with Black Rain Falls on a bonus DVD,
but that doesn't seem to be the case.  I have the VHS of BRF, and
would of course LOVE to get a DVD copy of your laserdisk
transfer.  I can get a picture taken of me holding my VHS copy, if
you'd like proof that I'm looking to upgrade something I bought,
and not trying to rip off the band.  In return, I could send you
blank DVDs, or some Oils concert CDRs, or a DVD of Wave Aid...          One other question:  would your DVD be in PAL or NTSC format....
I'm a Canadian, so I'm hoping for NTSC.
         Mike

I had my Laserdisc copy transferred to DVD a while back. It
    doesn't have
any menu or chapters but the quality is really good. Needless to
    say I'm
only making copies as a backup for people who own an original VHS or
Laserdisc. Let me know if you're interested.

    Cheers,

    Stephan
