Hi all,
I'm with Terry, Heidi and many others. It's hard discovering
exactly what you would or wouldn't pay (maybe that should be can or cannot pay)
for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I, for one, have never seen the Oils live
(WHAT!?) Yes..."Sad, but True" as Metallica says. However, I live and
breathe by the absolutely incomparable fan base the Oils excited over the years
and so appreciate all of the dialog and sharing of video, live audio, etc. that
you all so graciously and generously mediate. Really, for never having seen
the Oils, I feel like I know the band and music a little too well thanks to all
of you...thank you, thank you, thank you.
As a sad, pathetic ,side note, I run about 30 minutes every
morning here in misty, rainy, beautiful Oregon, USA and have 350+ Oils tracks (studio
+ live) on my iPod playing on shuffle. The other day I "broke-up"
with the Oils 'cause I just couldn't take the fact that I could not pay the
$2500+ to fly over to catch the shows while having little time to request off
work. By breaking up, I started my run by shuffling my entire iPod, instead of
just Oils. However, once I was half-way done with my run, sure enough, a live
version of "One Country" came on and I immediately remembered the
article discussing how Rob wanted to end the MCG set with it, as a uniting song
for the country. Upon listening, I felt like "One Country" meant something
more akin to "One World"...I felt the connection that I know so many of
you do to the importance of the meaning behind the music of the Oils and I
finished my run off strong, making up with the Oils.
Well, one more pathetic side note... I was on the Ticketek site
at sale time, I had plane tickets and concert tickets in online shopping carts,
etc. I was going to go, but just couldn't do it in the end. Upon finally
deciding I just couldn't make the trip, I, being a grown man-boy of 34,
actually TOTALLY had tears streaming down my face when my fiance asked me if I
was going to be ok by NOT taking advantage my one and only chance to see the
Oils live. Seriously, I was, and am still quite sad and think I need an
Oil-aholics meeting for support. Well, that may not work 'cause I'll never
admit that being addicted to the Oils is a problem...
Thanks for reading...oh wait, you probably NOT reading 'cause
your prepping to go to a show!! That pretty much rocks...I'm jealous, but
extremely glad to know you all get to see them and that they get to play
together again. As a musician, I know that, the only thing better than seeing
a great live show is PLAYING a great live show. I hope you all put on a good
show for the Oils and that they live up to their reputation and bring it
faithfully, rehearsed or not...can't wait to hear about it and see whatever
video makes it out...
:-)
Jeremy

I,
sadly, could not raise the $4000US to make the trip from home to there.
Thus, I hope each of you rock just a little harder for my sake.
At
least I have the internets. So, when will this
be broadcast in Universal Time?
