Hello all you Powdies

A few times in the history of this list (when did I first join this
list? 1994? 1995?) we have discussed other musicians, and I have
stated my enjoyment of Mark Knopfler. Several other list old timers
have liked him as well, so I thought I would just make a quick note here.

After ages and ages of not being able to see Dire Straits or Mr. Mark
Knopfler whenever he was touring, I was able to go his concert in
Portland, Oregon Tuesday night.

WOW.. Just WOW... Some songs work much better live than on the CD.
Hill's Farmers Blues and Marbletown had a lot more guitar work on
stage than on the album. The live Version of Telegraph Road was just
incredible. The Dire Straits Standards Romeo and Juliet and Sultans of
Swing were the highlight of the evening for most people, but I was
floored by Speedway at Nazareth.

Seated 8 rows back, 9 seats from the center, the view did not suck. I
will be able to pick my jaw off from the floor sometime next week..
