Hey, look at George Bernard Shaw - his quote "Life is not meant to be
easy, my child; but take courage: it can be delightful" ('Back to
Methuselah', 1921) has frequently been reduced to "life wasn't meant to
be easy", most famously by former PM Malcolm Fraser, who emphasised the
fuller version after leaving office and excited the admiration of PGa
with his human rights activism, rather than being a "turd burglar" as
formerly.
