Well said. I do hope PG gets the environment portfolio and believe there is no one better to have owning this. I look fwd to whatever he does and can absolutely trust that this defines some great progress for our generation.

A political analyst last night (can't remember which one) questioned that fact.

He said that it is no certainty due to Pete's 'gaffes' during the campaign. Not sure if this was just his own personal opinion or if it came from a Labor source.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't get the gig...... Although he is considered a bit radical by conservative Australians, there would be no one in any doubt that he was a minister with PASSION for his portfolio. Not just someone shoehorned into a portfolio they have to fake enthusiasm for.I personally think most of the people who would be uncomfortable with Pete as environment minister, are people that would never vote Labor anyway.

Pete has certainly proved that he is willing to toe the party line (even if he may let slip his REAL feelings occaisionally). He has said all along that he will fight like hell in the party room for his beliefs, but once decided, will back party policy whether it goes against his personal feelings. I think he has proven that is true.

And it's not like he is all of a sudden going to be more scrutinised.Everything he does is already scrutinised the the nth degree by the Government and the media.More so than any opposition front bencher that i can remember.
