The original Bakerman demo came from the Place Without A Postcard era.
It's just a song that was never used as far as I can see.  The story I
heard for the Red Sails version is that the band, recording in Japan,
had a local high school band to play the horns etc on that album.  One
day the high school band was at the studio but the Oils didn't have
anything ready for them to play on.  So Rob wrote Bakerman on the spot
to give them something to do.  Obviously it wasn't so much a case of
writing something new, but rather recycling the tune from an old unused
song.  The tune on the demo is pretty much as we know it from Red Sails.
The lyrics are pretty innocuous really.
