i guess i should add my 2 cents about the beard:

i spoke to jim after the bowery ballroom show last spring and he had a
considerable (yet, not nearly as big as it sounds to be now) beard then.
i asked him about it and he said he felt like Van Gogh with the beard! i
also asked him if is was hot to be on stage under the lights with the beard
and he said, "yes" (of course!) - so, i guess he's going for the sweaty Van
Gogh look :)  

..any way he wants to be is fine with me - as long as he still cranks out
quality music!
