[Powderworks] New Pirate Series of Midnight Oil

Friends,

At a CD fair today, I saw a series of brand new renditions of Midnight Oil
albums. Most all records are grouped by two (like 'Blue Sky Mining/Head
Injuries'), some repeat the original format (like 'Diesel and Dust')... alas,
as you may have rightly guessed already from the subject, those are illegal
CDs made in Russia. What is interesting, though, is that this series has
obviously been made in the 'Collector's items' approach, with quite a bit of
effort put into it, if not love. The pirate releases of Oils records in the
former USSR have previously been very true sound copies but sporting only the
front cover at best, no lyrics or credits pages at all. This new attempt is
waa-aay different. The inline notes/booklets are there, the CDs proper all
have the same elegant look. Apparently there's someone in the piracy industry
who feels that Midnight Oil may be stripped of their financial revenue but not
of the respect they deserve.

Wondering if this new pirate release can be attributed to their putting out a
new album and an end to the lull in touring...

Best, Alexei
