hello all,

a couple of comments on the upcoming release:

1) the track list for the u.s. version has been released (see
dealtime.com) - with "say your prayers" squeezed in as track 9 between
"been away too long" and "under the overpass". but no "(capricornia
interviews)" as listed on whammo.com.au. (disclaimer: dealtime.com is
occasionally unreliable in its information-gathering) you can also
preorder the album from amazon.com or cdnow.com (and probably other places
as well). amazon.com saves you $4 at the moment compared to cdnow.com.
the cover of the american version also seems different than the australian
- the cow has shifted to the right and the words have shifted to the left
ear from the right ear

2) what's the deal with the non-release of the "golden age" single? people
have reported that both whammo.com.au and liquid8records.com have said
that the single will not be released to the public, only to radio
stations. this, despite assurances on midnightoil.com and from the band
directly that the single would be released. how to interpret this? my
view is that the oils have screwed up again in their choice of record
companies. liquid 8 was supposed to be a fresh start for them, but from
this experience at least, they seem to have dropped the ball in the same
way that the fools at columbia did in the past. furthermore, look at the
pitiful treatment the oils are getting on liquid8records.com. also, has
anyone actually heard anything back from them regarding their "street
team" method of having fans help promote the album? from an outsider's
perspective, it would seem like the change in record companies has been
merely superficial.

back to lurker mode until the tour,
