I read some years ago that there was a time when you could not leave Bono's
(U2) house without him playing 10-1 for you. Doesn't surprise me. He and
Peter met in Bono's hotel room in Melbourne when the PopMart tour came
through after the gig, Bono wanted to get Pete's views on Reconciliation...

I remember reading that Michael Stipe (REM) listed Diesel & Dust as one of
his top 10 albums of the 80's.

< I was wondering if anybody new any cool quotes or comments that other
bands had made about the Oils music and why they liked them.

I remember seeing an interview with Joe Camilleri from The Black
Sorrows, he was asked about the affect of Australian music overseas.
He said that the Oils had something really special that none of the
other bands have got anywhere in the world. Realizing what he said
(not wanting to offend his mates!) added that Crowded House have a
  little something too.>
