Hi,

Tim Blair (and by proxy the Australian) is what I call an online
troll. He is either interested in stirring shit up or in using his
position to feel important. if he and the Australian were interested
in free speech and promoting a serious debate about some quite
important issues, they would publish the comments people submit and
he would respond to them. this is often done by many online
publications and writers. I looked for them but they are either not
there, or are deliberately hidden - same thing, really.

he is entitled to express his opinion but not to have it evaluated,
unless it is on an even playing field.

I think we should simply ignore it. not because of the content but
because it is expressed by someone who is only interested in hearing
his own voice.
