Hey, I forgot a minor detail...on the water drum in Montreal, they had duct
taped to it a Mohawk flag.

Those of you who were around about 10 years ago will remember the "Oka
Crisis" where the Montreal city council supported a local golf course
wanting to expand their (I forget, parking lot or just play area) onto a
disputed bit of land the Mohawks (one of the native groups in the region)
claimed was an ancient burial ground. It was pretty much ignored by
everyone until the Mohawkians (is that right??) forcefully blockaded major
bridges (Montreal is an island city) that disrupted commuter traffic for a
summer. Their protest was finally stopped when the Surete du Quebec rolled
in with the Canadian Army, teargassed and arrested a couple hundred people.
Then life went back to normal for most people. A few months later,
quietly, the golf course withdrew it's bid to aquire the disputed land, and
everyone was happy again.

Has anyone else seen a similar sort of statement at any of the other stops
so far? I thought it was pretty cool, and talked really big about running
up and snatching the flag, but I'm chickensh!t. =)

Cheerio!
Garrett
