I don't think it would have mattered. The opposition (and to a degree the govt) has been in election mode since the last elections. Abbott already started his mini campaign anyway. Not wanting to start a political debate but it would have been nice had the opposition chosen to offer an alternative in the here and now rather than wait for another election. I wonder why we pay dozens of MPs just to say that the govt sucks. surely we can do that for ourselves.
