Thats all good, and I agree with you.

But nice to have a copy if one can't access the 'original source.' Judging by what I've been able to convert, the quality's a whole lot better than old vhs I dubbed years ago - especially the sound quality. Maybe vhs is closer to the 'original source' but likely to be of lesser quality, more likely to deteriorate and much more difficult for people to readily access.

Anyways, it's there, it's useful, go nuts.

I'm totally against converting anything back from such sites as YouTube,
let alone circulating it further. The quality is always inferior to the
original source. Trading should always be in the highest possible
quality and no lossy formats be spread. YouTube is a good indicator of
what rarities are out there but should never be used as a source. Just
my opinion.

Hi everyone,

Not sure if people are aware of this, or if this is the right forum
for this, however, a friend recently put me onto zamzar.com.

It's a free file conversion site which will convert videos from
youtube etc and convert them to mp3, mp4 etc. Not sure if others have
used anything similar, but I've found it really useful.

As long as the quality of the source is reasonable, then the file you
get is of, I assume, same quality.

I've been able to put some live videos into a useful, retrievable
form, and some of the audio demos into storage so i can actually have
a listen without going to youtube.

Hope it's of help in getting some of those rare videos into greater
circulation.

Great for converting comedy videos to mp3 as well. 'I will have the
penne ala arabiata' - priceless.
