Think I only saw them once outdoors - no twice now that I think of it. Both good shows.

Boxing Day or the 27/12 many years back at Woodford folk festival. Powderfinger played before them. The oils sat in the wings for p'finger and they watched on as the oils played.

I had really bad sunburn from surf skiing on christmas day and was getting smashed by a mad bloke behind me all night. Pete came to my rescue and gave the guy a mouthful. It was much more pleasant after that.

The other one was a show at QUT in Brisbane, Allergy or something it was called - start of spring festival. Magic Dirt, Skunkhour and others beforehand. One of the shows during the writing of Redneck Wonderland I think. A great mix, old new, Started with Cold Cold Change, then Borderline. I think they finished with Only the Strong.

Best thing, no tinny reverbaration or echo off back walls or tin roofs. Clear sound, clear air - awesome.

Kev

Since postings have been slow, I just thought I'd throw this out
there-

What is the best outdoor Oils show you saw?

The warm breezes of spring are here (finally) in Chicago, so I'm
thinking of summer concerts.

Of the dozen or so Oils shows I saw, I think only three were outdoors-

Summerfest in Milwaukee 2001
XRT 4th of July show Chicago 2001
and Red Rocks in Colorado 1990

And, of course, Red Rocks wins. 5th row, Pete jumps into the crowd
and I get a high-five, and I was 17 years old instead of my current
35.

Right now, as I'm wondering if I should blow $200 to see Lollapalooza
here this summer, I'm longing for the days of a great $15 summer
concert.

Matt
